Works for me Wednesday - Eat Your Fruit!

I am oddly and deliriously happy to be participating in my first Works-For-Me Wednesday. For those who don't know, it's a blog carnival hosted at We Are That Family. Bloggers share tips on a WIDE variety of subjects. It's just plain fun.

Being somewhat time crunched on Wednesdays (hmm, maybe my next WFMW will be on how to cook for 60 people) this is going to be a short one.

Like most of us, I am always making resolutions to be more healthy, eat more healthy, eat more fruits and veggies, blah, blah, blah. But somehow I never quite get there. I buy the fruit, and then it sits back in the corner of my counter where I just don't see it as easily and by the time I get to it it is drying out, turning mushy, just generally being unappetizing. My biggest problem is clementines. I love those little orange globes of goodness, but I forget they are there. No one else in my family will eat them so by the time I make it through a bag they are usually going bad.

After my last shopping trip I had an idea. Take one glass dish that never gets used, fill with clementines and set in the center of the kitchen table. Voila! Instant centerpiece AND instant reminder that I have fruit to be eaten.

Now this would be so much prettier if it were full, but it's not. Why? Because I've been eating them! Having them so visible has made it so much easier to just grab one when I'm craving something.

Maybe I'll try a bowl of broccoli next.

And that's just something that is working for me!
